Placing generosity at the heart of bike sharing and creating goodwill while cleaning up the streets.
THE STORY: LimeBikes are convenient for those who use them, but for those who don’t, they can be an urban blight cluttering up the sidewalks.
STRATEGY:
1) Create goodwill among the public towards Lime by doing good deeds out in the world.
2) Encourage the public to do the same, and we’ll solve the bike clutter problem together.
CAMPAIGN NAME: ‘RANDOM ACTS OF LIMENESS’
STAGE 1:
The campaign begins with intriguing social media posts:
LIMEBIKE RICKSHAWS
Within days of the social media messaging, LimeBike begins giving something back to the community: free rides.
Specially customized LimeBike rickshaws with lime and yellow dressed cyclists trawl downtown offering free rides to members of the public.
The riders are on the look out for anyone who needs a ride: older people, pregnant women, people laden with shopping bags, and moms and dads on the school run.
LIMEBIKE MULTI-SEAT CAB
On a hot summer’s day a Lime multi-seater tours the city offering the public the chance to hop on, cool down and enjoy a complimentary fruit / veggie drink (lime green, of course) as they travel to their next destination.
SEATTLE GREAT WHEEL
A wheel this size is just too tempting. Lime lights up the wheel with the Lime logo and ‘FREE RIDE’.
To claim a free ride all you need is the LimeBike app on your phone, and you’re good to go.
Depending on the time of year this campaign launches, there are many annual events where Lime could spread its peculiar brand of generosity:
1) Lime green witches, ghouls and scary characters of all kinds ride the Lime rickshaws around town on Halloween offering free rides and handing out lime-colored candy.
2) Lime body-painted riders on Lime rickshaws take part in the annual Fremont summer solstice bike parade.
STAGE 2
GET THE PUBLIC INVOLVED:
Encourage LimeBike users to help Lime clean up the bike clutter by adding a new button ‘Report Bike Clutter’ to the app to alert them to problem areas.
Now comes a chance for Lime users to buy into ‘Random Acts of Limeness’:
A new ‘Gift-A-Ride’ button on the Lime app allows a LimeBike rider to donate a free ride to the next user of any LimeBike.
You receive an instant notification when someone uses your gift.
The next person to use that bike has a pleasant surprise.
